Join us for the first in this series of Lent 2012 Lunchtime Organ Recitals taking place on Tuesdays.  Chris Dawes, organist and host, tracks the organ music of the German Masters from the Renaissance to the 20th century, along with the social history that formed both composers and their music.

February 26 ~ Evensong

Our next service of  Evensong  will take place on Sunday, February 26th at 4:00 PM.

Join us as we listen to God through the versicles, canticles, and lessons that make up the form of this service and forget the ceaseless activity of daily life, for a while.

Choral Holy Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes

Gregorio Allegri’s exquisite and timeless “Miserere mei” (Psalm 51) reaches from the depths of history into hearts and souls of our time as the Lenten Season dawns.  It, traditional hymns, Gregorian chant and 20th century motets by Durufle and Vaughan Williams again adorn the Holy Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes offered by the Parish Clergy, Choir and Congregation on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, 7:30pm at St. James’, Dundas.

Shrove Tuesday / Ash Wednesday

Join us on Shrove Tuesday (February 22nd) for a Pancake Supper, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  Children under 10 years: $3.00 / Adults: $6.00 & Families: $15.00.  

Consider beginning your journey through Lent with St. James, Dundas, with Ash Wednesday (February 23rd) observances at either 10:30 AM or 7:30 PM services, with Imposition of Ashes and Holy Eucharist.

Musica St. James ~ February 17th

Be sure to take in the next offering in the Musica St. James series!

Join us on Friday, February the 17th at 8:00 PM for an evening of masterpieces for flute, cello, and piano with extraordinary local musicians Shoshana Telner, Kirk Starkey, and Sara Traficante.

A tour of brilliant chamber music written originally for this infrequently heard, but stunning instrument combination, including works by Bolshulav Martinu, Norman Dello Joio, and Carl Maria von Weber.  Concert tickets are available through the church office and are $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for seniors and students.  Please contact the church office to reserve your tickets by calling (905) 627-1424.

Love: Jazz & Musica St. James

Join us this coming Sunday, February the 12th at 4:00 PM for Jazz Vespers, which takes place on the second Sunday of each month.

This month’s offering is a Jazz Valentine’s Day Look at Love with Pat LaBarbera (sax), Stacie McGregor (piano), Glenn Anderson (Drums), and our very own Jim Sandilands (bass).  Enjoy some great jazz, readings, and prayers, with refreshments available afterward.  There is no charge for Jazz Vespers, though a free-will offering to support the music ministry at St. James is gratefully accepted.

Come on your own or bring a friend.  You’ll receive a warm welcome!
