Tuesday Evening Prayer

The Tuesday evening prayer group has evolved.

We are now meeting in a hybrid format. You are welcome to join on Tuesday evening at 6:15 in the parlour at St. James, or through Zoom at the same time. If you would like to join via Zoom,

please email the on Tuesdays by 4:00pm at stjamesdundas@outlook.com

to receive the Zoom meeting link.

The meeting is a combination of prayer and discussion of either a devotional or a passage from scripture. We look forward to welcoming you.

WEDNESDAY – COMPLINE – 9:15 p.m. Compline is a short service of night prayer. The heart of Compline is the recitation of several psalms. There is a short reading from scripture, intercession, and time for reflection. It is a beautiful way to close out an active day. Compline is offered by St. James’ through Facebook to bring the community together. If you cannot join live, the service is available afterwards on St. James’ Facebook channel.

World Water Day is Saturday March 22nd.  Can you manage to eliminate plastic water bottle use this week?  Only 9% of plastic is properly recycled. The rest goes into landfill.  Those plastic bottles take 450 years to biodegrade, long after we are gone!  Thanks for taking care of our earth.

Sharing their Gifts’ Event - April 5, 2025

Tickets are on sale for the St. James' "Sharing Our Gifts Event" which features a play called Ushindi:  When We Are Welcome.   You may purchase a ticket to attend a performance at 5:00pm followed by an authentic Kurdish dinner. Tickets are $75.  The other option is a matinee performance at 2:00 pm followed by Arabic deserts, coffee and tea. Tickets for the matinee are $25.

The Kurdish Dinner will be prepared by people of Hamilton's Syrian community as their way to thank St. James' for sponsoring and supporting Syrian families in their move to Canada. The menu will include rice, byrani, 3 kinds of dalma, sweets, bulgar, white rice with stew and salad.  It is a great opportunity to sample middle eastern food if you haven't yet.   Those who went to the last Kurdish fundraising dinner a few years ago had rave reviews!

For those who are opting for the matinee performance of the play, refreshments will be served after the play.  Arabic desserts including baclava will be made by another family who were recently sponsored by St. James' in their move to Canada.

There will also be a silent auction on April 5th.  There is a tempting range of items such as a flight on a glider plane, fresh seafood from the East Coast, grandmother's gift baskets and of course, wine baskets and more.   Wine, beer and soft drinks will be served at both performances and the dinner to add to your enjoyment.

Tickets may be purchased online at stjamesdundas.ca,  the church office or on Sundays after the service.  Make sure to buy early as numbers are limited for the dinner and play combo.

Please encourage your family and friends to attend this inspiring and entertaining event and important fundraiser for St. James'.

Sign-up sheets are now available if you wish to donate your time to this important fundraiser for St. James'.
