If people with clothing to donate could have them at the church by Thursday it would be helpful, however donations will still be accepted after this date. There is a need for towels, sheets of all sizes, blankets, blue tubs and clothes. If you have other items you think people starting out might need please contact the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com Thank you for your support of this project for some of the most vulnerable in our midst. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Message from the St. James’ Holiday House Tour Committee

Please put Saturday December 2nd, in your calendar to help at the St. James' Holiday House Tour. It is an important fundraising and outreach event for the church.

On Sunday November 5th, signup sheets will be available in the Narthex for volunteers. Watch this section for details about the many ways that you can assist.

  • Do you have home preserves and/or jams to donate for sale at the House Tour. If so, all donations are gratefully accepted at the church office.

  • Do you know a young person who is looking to get high school credits for volunteering in the community? The House Tour is a great way to earn credits. Please check with your family to see if they or their friends may be interested in one of the many positions that are fun while engaging with the public. Contact Gillian via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com

  • A critical role on the day of the House Tour are greeters who work at the homes on the tour. We will need up to 40 people to greet guests at the door, check tickets and to be situated at various points in the homes. If you enjoy meeting people, seeing the homes on the tour and are able to stand for five hours (with breaks), this is the job for you. The five-hour shift may be shared with a partner. Contact Marg via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com

  • Staffing the Tea Room is another important position on the day of the tour. Helpers are needed for one-hour shifts to pour tea in the parlour and church, to set up the day before and to clean up at the end of the day. Contact Sue via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com

· Do you enjoy Christmas baking? Christmas cookies will be baked in the church kitchen on November 8th and November 22nd. If you prefer to bake at home, a donation of your special Christmas cookies will also be gratefully accepted. Please contact Norma via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com

· Have you had the pleasure of eating a St. James' apple pie? They are always a sell-out at the House Tour. An apple pie baking day is scheduled in the church kitchen on November 15th. Contact Jill via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com to sign up.

Any questions or comments? Feel free to contact Gillian via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com

'Singing out' to future Choir Members

Choir Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:30 pm. We are actively recruiting new members for all sections of the Choir (SATB). It would be helpful to be able to read music. There is an urgent need for an increase of 2 Altos, 2 Tenors and 3 Basses. Please remember, those who sing in a Choir always have a parking spot and sit in some of the best seats in the building. Great comradery from being in a close-knit team of people who love to sing.

If you are interested in joining the Choir, or know of someone who loves to sing and is interested in joining the Choir please contact Richard Hansen, Organist and Choir Director via the office 905-627-1424 or stjamesdundas@outlook.com
