Jean Archbell – Rector

Jean is new to the ministry team at St. James as of August 2014. Jean was raised in Burlington, Ontario. She studied at Sheridan College, Oakville in the 3 year Business program. Jean married her college sweetheart David and they have two lovely daughters. Following a very successful career and a hiatus to look after the girls, Jean went to work at St. Christopher’s in Burlington. After working there for several years while feeling called to devote her life to the ministry, Jean began to attend Trinity College where she completed her Master of Divinity. Jean was ordained to the Diaconate in December of 2001 and priested in June of 2002. She continued as Assistant Curate and then as Associate Priest at St. Christopher’s until 2005 when she was appointed Rector of St. Elizabeth’s Burlington. She is a member of the Diocesan; Generous Cultural of Stewardship Team, The Governance Committee, and our clergy representative to Provincial Synod. When not busy with family and church Jean loves to read, travel and spend time at the cottage. Contact Jean at

Richard Hansen – Director of Music

Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Richard Hansen began formal organ studies at age thirteen. Richard’s first appointment at a Cathedral came in 1986. Richard comes to St. James from his most recent 10 year position as Director of Music at Port Nelson United Church in Burlington. Richard enjoys an active and diverse freelance career, having been the Conductor of the Blyth Festival Singers, Stonetown Choral Society, the Georgian Bay Children’s Choir Touring Ensemble and the Georgian Bay Concert Choir.  As an organ soloist, Richard has given recitals in venues from coast to coast in Canada, and has performed in the Netherlands, Germany, England, and Lithuania. In 1998, Richard was conferred the diploma of Associate by the Royal Canadian College of Organists. Richard lives in Burlington, Ontario, and in his leisure time enjoys reading about collectible cars, and attending car shows with his young daughter, Isabella.

Nyle Armstrong ~ Parish Administrator

Nyle is often the first point of contact for people visiting or phoning the church.  She is responsible for many of the administrative matters related to the parish. Committed to positively support St. James’ ministries, Nyle is very happy to be a part of the St. James family.  

Rob Roi ~ Parish Deacon

Rob has been a member of the parish for over 50 years and has served the community in many capacities through the years. As a deacon, Rob assists with the liturgies and takes communion to those who aren’t able to worship with the community at public services.  He is also the former curator of the Art Gallery at St. James.
